Qantas has officially announced a new seasonal route connecting Sydney (SYD) to Las Vegas (LAS), marking a significant milestone for the national carrier as it expands its footprint across the Pacific.
Starting December 29, 2026, travelers can bypass the traditional layovers in Los Angeles or Dallas, shaving up to five hours off their total travel time.

A Strategic Addition to the Network
Las Vegas officially becomes the 101st destination in the Qantas network and its eighth gateway in the Americas.
The service is timed to coincide with a "perfect storm" of high-profile gatherings in Nevada:
- CES (Consumer Electronics Show): The world’s premier tech event.
- NRL Las Vegas Festival: The National Rugby League’s annual season opener, which has seen fully booked charter flights for the past three years.
- Entertainment Residencies: High-demand performances from global superstars and proximity to the Grand Canyon.

Leadership Insights
The expansion is a direct result of Qantas’ ongoing fleet renewal program. According to Qantas International CEO Cam Wallace, the flexibility of new aircraft allows the airline to test "seasonal services to destinations people want to visit at certain times of year."
From the American perspective, Steve Hill, CEO of the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority, noted that Australia has consistently been the city's second-largest overseas market. This direct link addresses the largest international market that previously lacked a non-stop connection to Las Vegas.

Early Booking Incentives
For those looking to jump on the inaugural season, Qantas is offering a "Double Points" incentive. Frequent Flyers can earn 6 points for every $1 spent on Qantas Hotels and Holiday packages to Las Vegas, provided the booking is made before M
