In a move that solidifies its position as the leading carrier at London Luton Airport (LTN), Wizz Air UK has announced a significant expansion of its base following the successful acquisition of airport slots from TUI Airways.
The deal, confirmed today, December 23, 2025, will see the ultra-low-cost carrier (ULCC) station its 15th based aircraft: a high-efficiency Airbus A321neo, at the North London hub. This strategic expansion paves the way for six new routes commencing in June 2026, including a historic first for the UK aviation market.

A Historic Link
The most significant addition to the network is the launch of the first-ever direct, non-stop flight from London to Yerevan, Armenia. Previously unserved from the UK capital, this route marks a major milestone for Wizz Air and provides vital connectivity for the Armenian diaspora and leisure travellers exploring the Caucasus region.
"Securing additional slots at Luton strengthens our competitive position in the London market," said Yvonne Moynihan, Managing Director of Wizz Air UK. "We are delighted to deliver a festive surprise by introducing six exciting new routes, including the first-ever direct connection from London to Armenia."
New Route Network and Frequencies
The additional TUI slots will support a mix of sun-seeking destinations and strategic city break hubs. These routes are scheduled to begin in mid-June 2026, as the peak summer travel season ramps up.

Fleet and Operational Strategy
The 15th aircraft, a 239-seat Airbus A321neo, is a cornerstone of Wizz Air’s "Customer First Compass" initiative. By utilising the most sustainable aircraft in its class, Wizz Air is able to offer lower fares while meeting the environmental standards required for the airport's long term growth.

The expansion also includes a pivot toward year-round service for traditionally seasonal destinations like Lyon and Turin. While these are famous winter ski gateways, Wizz Air plans to operate them through the summer to cater to the growing demand for alpine tourism and business travel.

The Year of Growth
This TUI slot acquisition follows a series of expansion announcements for Wizz Air’s 2026 schedule. Earlier this month, the airline confirmed a "Spring Wave" of routes to Chania, Mykonos, Rhodes, Zakynthos, Bordeaux, and Dortmund, all starting in late Q1 and early Q2 2026.
By the time the Summer 2026 season reaches its peak, Wizz Air will offer connections to 66 destinations from London Luton, effectively distancing itself from rivals easyJet and Ryanair at the airport.
