Frontier Airlines plans to add two new routes to its network in late summer 2026, including a return to Oakland San Francisco Bay Airport (OAK) after several years away. The airline announced the additions on November 18, 2025, and tickets are already on sale through flyfrontier.com.
The carrier will start nonstop service between Denver International Airport (DEN) and Oakland on August 18, 2026, marking its return to the East Bay airport. A second new route will connect Atlanta's Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport (ATL) with Sarasota Bradenton International Airport (SRQ) starting August 19, 2026.
Both routes will operate on Frontier's low-fare model, with introductory fares available for travelers who book early. According to Frontier, one-way fares on the new Denver to Oakland route start as low as $19, while Atlanta to Sarasota fares begin at $39. Travel restrictions and booking deadlines apply, and seats at the lowest fares are limited.

Why Oakland Matters
Oakland San Francisco Bay Airport rebranded earlier to emphasize its position serving the broader Bay Area. For travelers based in the East Bay, returning Frontier service means another low-cost option to Denver, one of the airline's largest hubs. The route gives passengers access to Frontier's connection bank in Denver, which feeds into destinations across the Mountain West, the Midwest, and beyond.
Bobby Schroeter, Senior Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer at Frontier Airlines, addressed the expansion in the airline's announcement.
"We're thrilled to expand our network with these two exciting new routes, offering travelers more affordable options to explore some of the most popular destinations in the country," said Schroeter.
"Whether you're heading to the Bay Area to enjoy its vibrant culture and iconic landmarks or escaping to the beautiful beaches of Sarasota, Frontier is committed to making travel more accessible with low fares and outstanding service."
Atlanta to Sarasota
The Atlanta to Sarasota route taps into a well-traveled corridor for leisure passengers heading to Florida's Gulf Coast. Sarasota Bradenton International Airport serves visitors going to Siesta Key, Lido Beach, and other coastal destinations in southwest Florida. Atlanta already serves as one of the busiest airports in the country, giving Frontier access to a large pool of origin traffic for the new route.

Flight Schedule Details
The following table outlines the scheduled operations for the two new routes based on information available at the time of the announcement.

The Hidden Cost: Why Airlines Are Rethinking Fleet Simplification
What to Know Before You Book
Frontier operates an ultra-low cost model, meaning your base fare covers your seat and a personal item that fits under the seat in front of you. Carry-on bags, checked bags, seat selection, and other extras carry separate fees. Travelers who plan and bundle services through Frontier's Discount Den membership or its bundled fare options often pay less than booking add-ons individually at the airport.
If you're flying from Oakland, the airport's location across the Bay Bridge from San Francisco can save you time compared to driving to SFO, especially during peak traffic hours. BART connects Oakland's airport to downtown San Francisco and the East Bay's main commuter corridors.
For the Sarasota route, travelers should note that SRQ is a smaller regional airport with limited ground transportation. Rideshare and rental cars are typically the primary options for reaching beach destinations.
Frontier's Broader Strategy
The addition of these routes fits a pattern Frontier has followed in recent years, building point-to-point service between leisure markets and hub cities where it already has a strong presence. Denver remains the airline's largest base of operations, and Atlanta has grown as a focus city since Frontier expanded service there.
The return to Oakland also reflects shifting dynamics in the Bay Area market. Several carriers have adjusted their California strategies, and Oakland has actively pursued additional low-fare service to support its rebranded identity as the Bay Area's value-oriented gateway.
Bookings for both routes are open now. If you're considering travel to either destination next summer, early booking typically secures the lowest fares before introductory prices expire.
